It’s pretty easy. You need the panels, a couple of deep cycle marine batteries and a converter if you want your stuff to be 110V or you can forget the converter and buy 12V fans, TV and Lights. You can get a whole kit from many sources. just do a web search, or go on EBay. You may also want to check out a small wind turbine if you get wind at your farm. Forget the damn TV though and stick with radio. Heres One: http://www.azsolar.com/page/page/1616242.htm

why stop at photovoltaic Sarge? lets go all out and build series of concentrator mirrors to generate steam and run that through a turbine! of course you’d need a water cooling tower to condense the steam once it leaves the turbine.
unless you want realistic answers…
4 CFL bulbs at 14 watts each is 56 watts.
My stand up fan only uses 70 watts on high.
My large 36 inch TV only uses 88 watts at max.
Total 162 watts
Lets run them all at the same time for say 6 hours a day. So we need 972 watts per day.
If you get 4 hours of peak sun you would need 243 watts in solar panels and to allow for loses you should get 300 watts.
Now you need batteries to last a day or two. A 100 AH deep cycle battery holds 1200 watts in power and to keep it above 50% discharge you would need two.
The inverter just has to be able to handle the total power usage of 162 watts so a 300 watt inverter would do.
300 watts divided by 12 volts is 25 amps so you need a charge controller that can handle 25 amps
3 each 100 watt solar modules. About anywhere on the net.
1 each 300 watt inverter Walmart or auto parts house.
1 each 30 amp charge controller Xantrex C-35.
2 each trojan t-105 6 volt deep cycle batteries 225 AH.
A couple of breakers from lowes or home depot and you are in business.
Here is a how too page to help you out.
