The world needs a new source of energy, an unspillable source.

  1. Jatropha has fantastic potential. A Kenyan farmer with just a hectare of land, with the proper seed and training, could earn well over a thousand dollars for his family. That’s a big deal in that region.

Of course, that’s dependent on an out-grower program in his area run by a company that isn’t merely looking to exploit the people (as tobacco out-grower programs are prone to do).

This is why I’m involved with Bedford Biofuels, a socially responsible company planting jatropha in Kenya.

  2. ladygreenjohn – pls check
“The World According to Monsanto” and
    “Codex Alimentarius” then see,
    “Resist Africom”
Then you will know the truth,

  3. This can help the Kenya’s,and other African country’s,if they control it themselves and work together to make it happen for the benefit of their countrys and peoples.Solar panel should be used on every government building in hot country’s.

  4. Only the strong survive

We are in an animal world

Many forms of religion become forces of “social control” by preaching weakness

Life is a nightmare from which we cannot awake!

  5. hee hee…..i hate the stuff but i sure as hell don’t mind bein’ around it.

  6. Thats not efficient at all, you can’t even power a truck for a day on 2 liters and expect to go anywhere. And THEN they want to talk about exporting it? Not smart, growing edible crops is an awesome idea if they can get some shade by planting all these trees

  7. What about Industrial Hemp? It has 3 crops per season…but i think u have to process the oil for fuel. it’s also used as food, homes, clothes, lotions, shoes…! Henry ford make a car and fuel out of it before it was outlawed in the 30’s to make way for ….nylon…a petroleum product.

  8. The only hope for Kenyans is that they realize that Economic Hitmen have bribed their politicians to rape their lands of natural resources

And that they need to stop fighting among themselves, and rather battle against the soulless corporations that rape their land!

  9. Hopefully this does help Kenya.

With all the droughts going on in the world, we really do need to slow down global warming and use alternative fuel sources.

With all the heat waves; we should have solar panels everywhere.

  10. Now now, we can use the seeds for fuel, the buds for getting stoned, and the hemp as a cash crop. There’s enough to go around.

  11. Growing Marijuana will stop soil erosion. Or, Hemp can be turned into a bio fuel. Never mind that is a stupid idea.

Kenya’s hope that biofuel will reduce poverty – 16 Feb 09

The jatropha tree is being harvested to create biofuel in Kenya. The product can be used to fuel anything from aircrafts to cookers and the new industry is being billed as a way out of poverty for many of the country’s poor. However, a lot of land is needed to create the fuel. Al Jazeera’s Yvonne Ndege reports from Kitui in eastern Kenya.
