The world needs a new source of energy, an unspillable source.

  1. Find a source of water that is elevated – a flowing river.

Trap the water – a dam.

Install a turbine power extraction system in the dam – a electric generator.

  2. find a suitable location with adequate rainfall where a large quantity of water can be captured and stored (if necessary by building a dam). Check out the geology to make sure the water will not seep away or cause other damage (landslides), sealing as necessary and practicable. Check the economics – the amount of water inflow and height of dam give the energy (cash) input and cost of dam, piping and generating equipment (water turbines, generators, transformers and switchgear) and their financing give the cash output. Design and construct the plant with the generating equipment located as far below the surface of the dam as practicable. Install piping as necessary to collect water into the dam and to run the water from the dam to the generating equipment. Other major considerations along the way are: compensation of landowners for the ground coming under water; negotiation of contracts for the sale of power and for operation and maintenance; environmental impact studies including the downstream effects and obligations on any preexisting rivers, silting up rate of the dam.

What are the steps in creating hydroelectric energy?

Could you help me by telling the different steps in creating hydroelectric energy?
