The world needs a new source of energy, an unspillable source.

  1. near the heath river because it empties directly into ocean, so its faster, ideal for a hydroelectric power plant

  2. if your building a dam the speed of the river doesn’t matter, all that matters is the height. When the water hits the dam any forward motion it would have had is stopped, the only energy is when the water falls from the dam. The higher the dam the faster the water falls, the more energy you can get. For this reason hydroelectric dams are typically built in canyons or gorges. I would suggest the Rio Sussia canyon northeast of La Paz (capital of bolivia), which some geologists argue may be the largest in the world. On the northern flank of Illimani in the Cordillera Real, the gorge plunges 5,084 feet from top to bottom and stretches 12,300 feet from rim to rim.

    Other places you might consider…

Mamoré river – largest river in bolivia

Bala gorge – hydroelectic dam project was proposed here in 1999 and 2007 but has not started yet

Pilcomayo canyon – just a random canyon i found

don’t forget to consider other geographical factors when building your dam,
How is the soil, good for building things?
Is this place known for disease?
Am i destroying an important ecosystem here?
Research reasons why people built other dams and the obstacles in building those dam’s specifically the three gorges dam, the hoover dam and Itaipu dam

hope that helps, good luck on your project =D

  3. the paraguay river, it is the largest and highest river in bolivia, and it collects lots of minerals which would make the area surrounding the dam very fertile and perfect for agriculture.

where would be a good place to build a hydroelectric dam in bolivia? 10 points?

for my history project i have to come up with a business, and i have bolivia. i want to open another hydroelectric power plant/dam but i don’t know where in bolivia i should build it. one of the rivers, obviously, but which one would be best?
thanks in advance!
