I would like a solar power plant FOR my home. I have no problem with such things nor would I complain about a ‘wind farm’.
The current coal-fired plant (about 5 miles from me) pollutes every day. It is a “clean burn” plant but the operators seem to have found a way to conceal their pollution. I can see the yellow haze being emitted in the steam plume from the cooling towers (where nothing but steam is supposed to be) on sunny days.
I’ve told the local EPA about that but nothing has been done. Grift and bribery I would guess.
Anyway, the solar and wind plants are clean and efficient when operating and fueling them does not require deforestation or mining.
I wouldn’t mind one near my home because:
1) i can get clean energy
2) they aren’t dangerous (like nuclear)
3) they don’t pollute (like coal fired)
4) they are quieter than wind.
well, i wouldnt complain, they are completely silent and they make no polution, plus a solar powerplant shows a city trying to eliminate polution, and, it would mean i live somewhere sunny, not here (welcome to Ohio, is it raining yet?)
hey,
I want solar power plant near my house because
1)It is cheaper than other.
2)It is environment friendly
Yes!
Far and away my number one choice would be commercial wind turbines.
Second choice would be a solar plant, but we live in a poor area for it. I live in the high mountain desert are of Idaho. Desert sound great for solar, right? Not really. We get too much snow here. We also have VERY high windstorms, and micro burst tornatoes. They would not “play well” with a solar plant.
By the way, most people do not realize this about commercial solar plants, but you do realize they are steam plants, right? The solar panels are used the heat the water in a giant water tower, which makes steam, and drives the turbine.
Solar plants also have a fairly large area they cover. They are a pretty good place for some smaller gound dwelling critters to live, but not too friendly to a lot of other wildlife. Raptors have a very difficult time hunting amoung them, because of the reflection of the solar panels, and simply because they cannot see prey under the panels.
Larger animals are sometimes fenced out, since they might damage the solar panels.
In some desert areas I’ve been through I think commercial solar plants would be a wonderful option! Nevada especially comes to mind. In many of the deserts there it would actually help the desert wildlife, since shade is such a premium. Solar plants there could actually help increase some of the wildlife.
Commercial solar power also costs seven times more to produce than commercial wind power.
I’m honestly for both powers, I just want to see them built in areas that really make sence to have them.

Who’s husband works on the commercial wind turbines.
I would, I would apply for a job there. Clean off the occasional bird poop, then sit back down with my feet up.
I think perhaps a large collection of solar arrays would be better in a desert environment because they could be placed 20 or 30 feet high, spaced just right, and provide some shade so things could be planted underneath, like grass, or bushes, or, heck anything, it’s a desert for God’s sake.
I live on 10 acres.. if they want to stick one on my land and give me free energy I am all for it!!!
