The world needs a new source of energy; one that is continuous, plentiful, inexpensive, safe and unspillable

What are the physics principles of geothermal energy?

Question by Lonely Spirit: What are the physics principles of geothermal energy?
What are the physics principles used by devices used for geothermal energy? It doesn’t matter what type of geothermal extraction is being used, but if anyone has some good physics principles that would be great :D

Go back to the laws of thermodynamics. They will give you all the limits,
you cannot extract all the heat, you will have to put out some waste heat, and
if you use a Carnot cycle as a heat pump, what “efficiency” you could obtain.
