  1. Well look at that amazing piece of metal. Briggs & Stratton engines are unbelievably tough!

  2. “no kill switch”
look beside the spark plug, that piece of metal moves onto the plus and acts as a kill switch

  3. I have a non recoiling briggs fractional water pump, and the strip of metal on top IS the killswitch to the sparkplug, oilbath the filter.

  4. that piece of metal sticking up next to the spark plug is the kill switch lol, just flip it over so it touches the plug. thats what grounds it out

  5. funny that i was given a 7hp briggs haddent run 4 3 years no one thought it would run but i coulnd say no so i put some fresh oil /feul and a new plug it started 2nd pull
    briggs are just the bussiness.

  6. My snow blower has a horizontal shaft L-Head that was manufactured in Sept. of 1979. The date code should be stamped on the metal plating just above the flywheel. It’s a 5HP motor so the fuel tank is about 40% larger than this one. I had the carb rebuilt last fall, and it starts on the fourth pull (no primer so first 3 w/choke on to prime) every time. I love Briggs and Stratton engines. My tractor has a BS v-twin, that’s the smoothest motor ever!

  7. I know this is an old video but YOU DO HAVE A KILL “SWITCH” its that funny looking thing sticking up next to the spark plug. You flip it to the plug and it grounds out the coil :D

  8. i am getting really fucking sick of that stupid royal purple commercal. OIL DOES NOT INCREASE HORSE POWER

  9. I have problems with the engine valves I do not know how At their supposed to be the engine to function properly.i hope that you can help me :)

  10. They used these engines on the old Webb cylinder mowers – they are really great, and reliable workhorses if they are well maintained.

  11. I have a 1978 briggs 2hp that sat outside for 15 years, I took it out changed the plug and the air filter then put fresh gas in it, Set the throttle because the linkage was broke and it started on the 3rd pull. amazing little motors

  12. These make bitchin mini-bike engines. Slap a centrifugal clutch on it and away you go.

  13. i’ve got a similar engine, a 3hp Briggs just like that. Your cover looks a little different, check out my channel to see how mine turnt out after a little elbow grease.

  14. good runnin motor you got there. i got 1 that needs a new carb and im thinking of making some kind of manifold and putting dual 4.5 hp briggs carbs on it!

30 Year Old 3HP Briggs and Stratton, 10 Year Cold Start

Got a 3HP, L valve Briggs and Stratton motor that is about 30 years old. I picked it up off a man who’s father had it in his lawnmower at one point in time. Its been sitting on his shelf in his garage for ‘many years’. So I assume around 10 years or so of sitting. Nothing amazing or spectacular here. Just cleaned the spark plug and adjusted the gap on it, adjusted the throttle, cleaned the air filter, drained the old gas in there and replaced it with some fresh gas and hoped for the best. The oil was already full and seemed alright, plus I didnt have any to replace it haha. This is the result.
