NORTH SAANICH – Two Vancouver Island companies have developed software to aid in coastal oil spill disasters. The system provides emergency response crews with access to high resolution video, photos and map information of the coastline of Alaska. Data from BC and California may also be incorporated into the system. The system was developed by Victoria-based Cloverpoint Cartographers in partnership with Coastal & Ocean Resources in North Saanich. The software is completely self-contained and can be used in remote areas where Internet access isn’t available.
