Tesla was a poor businessman and did not patent any of his ideas. He thought working for the betterment of mankind was enough.
He died penniless.
He did, however, help Edison become very rich indeed.
Unfortunately, he died flat broke in a tiny apartment having barely ever been recognized for is massive contribution to society.
He sold a lot of his patents off to competitors (Westinghouse, GE, and others) to pay for more research, but he was never able to complete much of his work.
We continue to use MANY of his inventions today – AC power throughout the entire planet (his invention, not Edison’s), the fluorescent light, spark ignition, steam turbines, and many, many more.
Do a Google search on him – there’s now a number of museums dedicated to his work. Also check Amazon for several books documenting his life.
He was absolutely one of the single most influential men in history, yet gets little credit.
He was one of the greatest inventors in all of history but his inventions were suppressed and confiscated by the military
Nicola Tesla was a true scientific genius.
Among thousands of inventions and conceptual advances, what happened to his technology? They are still in use.
Its powering my apartment, from the Niagra Falls Power generation station. He designed it. In fact, his invention of AC power distribution is powering virtually every home in the world.
