    However, the lunar lander didn’t use hydrogen fuel. Hydrogen must be extremely cold to stay liquid, and by the time the Apollo astronauts arrived at the Moon, it would all have evaporated away (or burst the tank, if there were no release valve).

    Instead, they used room-temperature hypergolic fuels like mono-methyl-hydrazine (MMH) and nitrogen tetroxide.

How much hydrogen fuel is necessary to bring two astronauts safely down to the moon and back into orbit?

I was wondering about this, since to get away from Earth it needs quite a big rocket, but how are the relations on the Moon with about six times less gravity and no atmosphere?
