i just want to know about what types of rotor blade wind turbine that is suitable for low wind speed region where the monthly mean wind speed is about 1.5-2m/s and the maximum wind speed is about 8m/s. can u give me some suggestion how to choose the best rotor blade of wind turbine that can be applied in region to generate electricity from wind energy system. if u have any wind turbine user’s manual that have the technical data of wind turbine, can u email to me. Melia, that isn’t much wind, but they do make turbines that operate in this area, there are not very many of them. My suggestion is to go to Home Power Magazine’s web site. They are the only periodical that gets into the nuts and bolts of producing your own electricity. We got started by reading that same magazine 12 years ago, now our home is completely powered by the wind and sun. Every few issues they take some device related to home power, such as solar panels, charge controllers, inverters, and yes, even wind turbines, and compare all the known commercially available units with all their specs and data. It’s probably the best place to get the information you want. The magazine costs about $25 USD per year, and when you subscribe online and view the magazine at their website, you can look through all the back issues and find the article on wind turbines you want.
As a matter of discussion, the most efficient wind turbine design for low wind will have the fewest blades. They used to make 1 blade turbines for this reason, but I have not seen one in over 20 years. The 2 blade units are generally most suitable for low winds, and there are several available. You might also do some research at the American Wind Energy Association, it’s a non profit group. I will list some links below.
