For centuries, people around the globe have used Earth’s heat: from relaxing hot springs baths to geothermal energy production for entire cities. But the resource has always been limited to areas with sufficient underground warmth. Now, as US officials encourage the development of clean-energy technologies, the industry is developing new, more efficient ways to capture the Earth’s energy.
