  1. What a bummer . Must be one hell of an oil bed . Makes me wonder why oil has been so high being they find oil fields with so much oil in them .

  2. I’m not at all depressed. We have survived dozens of spills much larger quite easily. About 450 thousand barrels of oil have been leaked into the Gulf of Mexico so far. About 10 million barrels were spilled into the Persian Gulf during the Gulf War.

It will be a mess to clean up for years to come and quite costly but when you get lemons, it is time to make lemonade.

  3. it is depressing. i am depressed for all the animals and fish and birds who have and will suffer because of this, the environment as a whole and the fact that in reality most people don’t even care unless they are directly effected by it. i don’t understand how with all the technological advances we have made, they don’t have a proper way of dealing with something like this that is almost destined to happen every now and again.

  4. This is absolutely huge and it requires that everyone get involved and help out in one way or another. Just heart breaking.

Forget about all the money people are losing and just think of the loss of habitat to all species that inhabit those waters from microbes, to whales to sea birds.

The real sad part is that oil people only think money and profit. The fact that the ocean is being decimated does not concern them at all. In fact, people who are concerned about the environment irritate the ***ell out of oil people.

  5. Very. Maybe they could try a ‘junk shot’ using all BP executives.

    Thanks Bush and Cheney!

How depressing is BP announcing that Top Kill is a failure?

Question by Mujer Alta: How depressing is BP announcing that Top Kill is a failure?
It just came over the radio news that BP has just announced that its latest attempt – Top Kill – to stop the flow of oil has failed. When I think of all the damage this blowout is causing to the Gulf environment and to the people who depend on that environment it just makes me sick. How do you feel as the days turn into weeks, turn into months and the oil keeps flowing?

It says they’re going to move on to capping the well as if capping was the easiest thing in the world. Well, why in the *$@&!#% didn’t they just cap it in the first place?
