You’ve seen what happens with meltdowns like Chernobyl and yet some people still want fission nuclear reactors.

Are these people like, complete and total cretins?

Your absolutely right; it’s mind boggling how people enter into fission power industry with no common sense and intelligence. Just plain greed! There has been so much studies done and experiments that any disaster should be mitigated to practically zero. Problems that arise with these kinds of power plants are the most horrific kind and should only be considered when all other options cannot meet the demands of the societies power needs. Don’t worry, the National Ignition Facility’s vision of fusion is just on the horizon and that is an extremely clean power source! if anything happens while in operation, anything at all, the reaction is so sensitive that it will shut down by itself. I have no degree’s but even I, a simpleton knows this.
