The world needs a new source of energy, an unspillable source.

  1. Japan was a beyond worst case scenario. The plant was designed to take a quake below the one that hit. Designing a perfect fool proof anything is impossible.

Wild fires are close to the two other plants, but they are fine according to last reports.

If a plane crashes should we all stop lying? How many people are killed every day in car crashes? So how about we ban those too.

Since nuclear power has been in use ewer people have been killed because of nuclear accidents than any other source of power. France uses nuclear power for over 75% of it electrical needs. They have NEVER had an accident. In civilian reactor there have been 3 major events.

  2. How long have nuclear power plants been around and how many accidents have there been? Then compare that to how many windmills have destroyed themselves.

Face it, Libs, nuclear power is one of the most safe ways to produce energy.

  3. Nuclear power is just as safe as any other. Can you imagine what would happen if a natural disaster hit a coal-powered plant?

No the fossil fuel industries have used such propaganda against nuclear power that we’re going to be dependent upon them for decades, if not a century or longer. Wind/solar power is so focused upon because it’s unattainable for mass production and use in the near future, so keep people distracted, gouge the prices, no one notices because “at least it isn’t nuclear.”

  4. los alamos isnt a nuclear power plant. its a weapons facility. get your facts straight. and even if you threw a nuke into a bonfire, theres like a 1% change of it going nuclear. you really think the lab did think about protecting weapons from wildfires?

  5. Nuclear power is a very safe source for power and it will only getting safer. Coal and other fossil fuels are was more hazardous. Air pollutants kill two million people per year and much of that is due to fossil fuel combustion. What we should do is learn from japans mistakes and improve nuclear safety. Also what we must realize is no energy source is risk free. Nuclear power is said to be a cleaner source of power. Compared to other resources it gives off virtually no pollutants especially the greenhouse gases that warm the earth. Nuclear energy plays a big part of satisfying emission constrains on sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides. Have you heard of the fast breeder reactor?

How many more Nuclear power plant disasters or near-disasters is it going to take?

Question by Wake the Sheeple: How many more Nuclear power plant disasters or near-disasters is it going to take?
Fukushima, now the floods and wild fires threaten two more, Ft. Calhoun and Los Alamos Laboratory
so what’s it going to take to make people realize nuclear power is not safe power?
