  1. Oil Spill is not the only main concern but those toxic chemicals used to contained the oil spill is more dangerous.

  2. Exxon was a disaster on a small scale. If you digg on the affected beaches in Alaska, the oil is still there, and will be there for a long time. Alaska wildlife is pretty tough and some communities recovered..

  3. The beaches there tend to be rock and pebble beaches and though they appear to be clear of oil, should you turn over a rock, it’ll be covered with oil on the other side. The clean up was mostly cosmetic. Nature always achieves a new equilibrium, whether or not that equilibrium is a recovery is subject to debate.

What is the area that was affected by the Exxon Valdez oil spill like today?

Question by beakbeak35: What is the area that was affected by the Exxon Valdez oil spill like today?
What were the long term ramifications to wildlife and fishing? Has it recovered? I’m hoping that some people from Alaska will be able to respond (for a first hand report), but welcome comments from anyone.
That video you linked does not make the conclusion the crop damage was due to the oil spill. The headline does, but there is no mention made of it when you actually listen to the news story.

It’s still not back to what it was before the spill but there has been a lot of recovery.
