Question by : Is unregulated Capitalism killing the planet?
Fracking for natural gas causes earthquake in Ohio.

BP oil spill in the Gulf could have wiped out the wetlands. Mine subsidence and cutting the top off of mountains for coal mining is damaging to the environment.
And yet while McCain campaigned for the presidency he said the US should have less regulation. While the BP oil spill was going on Palin still repeated, “drill baby drill”. And Republicans want to do away with the EPA as shown from the Republican debates. Jobs, jobs, jobs, full speed ahead with the pipeline!!!

@ Lear 45 continued, hence the reason for the second link that you should also read.
“Cause and effect?
The practice of injecting water into deep rock formations causes earthquakes, both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Geological Survey have concluded.”
It’s not an opinion or just a wild guess. It’s a fact!

The market will regulate itself, indeed!
@ Maverick capitalist, doing away with the EPA would result in more than just “changing the environment”. Prior to greedy American capitalists folding up their factories and moving to China, where the air is polluted to dangerous unhealthy levels, the factories were polluting the air in America. But a greedy capitalist doesn’t care how bad the environment is polluted where the worker lives. They can afford to destroy sections of the planet and live elsewhere. Chernobyl just changed the environment a little? It’s all natural right?
@ Pookie, let’s not get all caught up in semantics. As far as an oil company getting all sorts of regulations, that is exactly the whole problem with the BP oil spill. They were supposed to regulate themselves which they didn’t. As we all know, you don’t have a fox regulating the hen house.
The process of Fracking involves shooting an unknown combination of chemicals down into the rock which has been shown to come out of peoples water spickets and turn into flames. You can’t drink that water. How can people deny these facts? I guess as long as its not in your backyard it’s no big deal?
