Asymmetric capacitor lifter experiment video using a homemade Schlieren setup. The ‘lifter’ isn’t set up to fly I just wanted to see if I could observe any air motion around the capacitor electrodes. The voltage is about 28000 volts DC pulsed at 15kHz. First I set up the electrodes to get arcing the incrementally adjusted the gap until there wasn’t any arcing. At that point I turned on and off the high voltage and watched for evidence of airflow.
