Question by Sara: Shouldn’t a country that is the true religion be a better place to live?
Wouldn’t That religion have help from God to solve problems in the country? Yet in the yahoo.com news today the happiest countries are godless socialists countries.
Sweden, New Zealand, Australia Denmark, and top the list Norway. You could say well they have oil reserves to help the economy. But the 5 worse places have a much better climate, more natural resources and the lowest income rate and highest poverty rate and infant mortality rate of anywhere in the world.
Yemen, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Central African Republic. Many countries they were unable to poll the persons living there but their poverty was pretty much the same. Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran and other countries that have a very high religious membership. They are said to be ruled by God himself. Yet, murder, sucide, child labor, selling children in sex trade and infant mortality rate rivals China and India who kill to have boys.
So wouldn’t you expect those countries ruled by God , doing God’s will and being God’s chosen people to have better living conditions?
I mean otherwise what’s the use?

That is because God is good! He is giving them the only Heaven NOW they will ever see !

So then, where does the good ole US of A figure in all this?
Jesus made it very clear that the Kingdom of God lies within individuals who believe in him. It is not a national treasure that is shared by all the citizens of a country. Now Countries like USA that have been based on Christian principles certainly have been better places to live than say Muslim countries etc.
Conclusion: Religion doesn’t really change the world for the better.
Happiest by whose definition ? The Western media ? There’s a surprise. And it’s not religion causing the problems in those countries, it’s the people who control, and bastardize the religion, for their own purpose.
And to true zealots, so called better living conditions are anathema to their beliefs.
Places like Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran use religion as their smokescreen. It isn’t about God, it’s all about power. They use religion like many extremists do in America…to push their agenda and keep everyone in line. If people don’t tow that line, they get punished in any number of ways.
It has absolutely NOTHING to do with religion.
Secular countries have greater respect for human rights.
Should, according to the Bible, but isn’t.
Come to think of it, the nation that is stated to be God’s chosen people have consistently been oppressed, persecuted, debased, slandered, killed, discriminated against and generally pissed on. No wonder Jewish humor is always kind of wry.

No country is ruled by god, doing god’s will, or filled with god’s chosen people; they are ruled by man, doing man’s will, and filled with children of men. Religion is for idiots that need the desire of going to heaven and the fear of going to hell as motivation to do the right thing. When’s the last time god, jesus, allah, buddha, a dead guy, a ghost, or a spirit came up to you and said “oh, heaven’s great!” or “damn, hell is really crappy”???? More people have been killed in the name of religion than anything else I bet….Greed is still trying to catch up as the leading historical cause of death!
No. God said He’s going to test His followers through hunger, fear, loss of property/wealth/lives, etc. This mostly happens in Muslim countries, so that should tell you something!
you can see the Islamic countries kill their own people. God isn’t Allah, so He is letting them kill themselves. Just because they are devote to Allah doesn’t mean they have Allah’s protection, because Allah isn’t real.
As long as religion has clergy we will always have these problems. Religions which started out as legitimate movements which originally made a positive change have over time transformed into useless traditions and meaningless rituals. The pastors, priests, rabbis, and clerics of these religions make a comfortable living off the naive followers who believe the fantasy of some future messiah or savior coming and changing the world. The very people who tell them God’s going to come out of the sky and get them out of all their misery are really the cause of the problems. Religions which are originally meant to help people end up becoming big businesses and large corporate entities who are competing with each other for the minds and money of the people. They cause division by always claiming the other religions, sects, or denominations are false and evil. The bottom line is they do this simply to profit from their followers and keep them in fear of “outsiders”. Imagine a religion which includes all people as brothers and sisters, which treats women as equals, which treats all races, religions, and ethnicities as equals. But ultimately has no “middle men” between you and God and encourages independent investigation. A religion which has a vision of world unity free of war. War is often caused by these so-called “men of God” creating misunderstandings in the minds of the people.
