Q&A: Which Engineering degree should I major in for alternative energy?

Question by WhyNot: Which Engineering degree should I major in for alternative energy?
I have always been interested in alternative energy, so I am wondering which discipline of engineering I should major in. I am thinking nuclear engineering, but that is only one type. Which type deals with solar, wind, hydroelectric, etc. power?

I would suggest an electrical engineering program. This is the degree you would need to learn more about power generation – common and alternative.

On the other hand, alternative energy also may be things like different fuels for cars, like bio-diesel, in which case I suggest chemical engineering.

And I am not too sure nuclear is considered alternative, but I could be wrong.
