Are non workers allowed to go up on wind turbines? I would love to go up
one.
is it pronounced “turbine” or “turbin”? because i say “turbine”
I’d like to ask a question. If you have 50 turbines on a hill, all feeding
into the grid, then they must all be kept in phase, which involves
controlling the speed of the generator with phenomenal accuracy. I have
often wondered – how is it done?
With roof-top solar cells, it can be done with electronics, but I don’t
know of any semiconductors that can handle gigawatts or even megawatts.
Makes me feel proud that I helped weld together many of these wind towers
I’m not anti-wind power but facts are stubborn things. Wind turbines are
not near as green as one might think. ALL energy sources impact the
environment. There is between 6,000 to 10,000 lbs of copper in each
turbine. Copper, like all the steel and cast-iron has to be mined,
smelted, etc. Those gears and bearings must be lubricated too: There is
about 80 gallons of oil in the gearbox alone. This must be changed every
18 months to 3 years.
Most importantly, there is between 752-800 lbs of rare earth minerals
(mainly Neodymium and Dysprosium) used in the magnets. Almost all these
minerals come China, which is not known as the bastion of clean
manufacturing. This is for ONE turbine. Turbines make people feel nice
and fuzzy “green” but reality trumps feelings.
Hi everyone. I want to know something.
I want to design 10 wind turbines with 5KW each one. So that can give 50KW.
Those 10 small wind turbines are a wind farm?. Or it’s just a wind energy
system?
wwwww
how much wind turbines are standing in the USA?
In Germany its over 25.000
Work on it and i can say, it’s amazing
I wish we found a cheaper way to build those things :)
It always amazes me how big those turbines are…
My handsome fiancé does this’ he’s actually in Texas at the moment
sweet cool
Wind turbines generate DC voltage. No need to keep in phase. The DC is
converted to AC when it is connected to the grid, using the grids’ phase
for matching.
Great vid. Thx for sharing. Really captures the scale of the technology.
These wind farms you Green Liberals are shrieking about? Yeah, they’re
killing scores of protected bird species, and Obama is having a ruling
drafted to protect wind farms from any kind of penalties for any endangered
birds that get killed. So at last we have the proof I’ve craved that you
Leftists really do not give two shits about the earth or nature. You care
about your little socialist agendas, but don’t worry: the best way to
destroy a movement is to let it get strong, and since 2008 you Lefties have
peaked. Hear that creaking noise? It’s your house of cards fixing to fall.
Just started working on my first turbine project last night with Mortenson
Cons., stabbing the blades unto the hubs. I loved it!
You’re right. I don’t live near a wind farm. Traveled through some areas
with wind farms, but apparently, you know more about them. Educate us,
please!!
Wow that’s crazy awesome
For a recent (days ago) beautiful evening low flight over several hundred
big, hard-working turbines, go to my channel and click on “Breaking Wind at
the Rio Vista Wind Farm.”
That’s an Anemometer en.wikipedia(dot org)/wiki/Anemometer
1:00 mute this and play Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater – Song.
Is 1.8MW the installed capacity? What is the Capacity factor for these?
I have a give away contest going right now, FREE wind turbine and solar
panel, here’s the link Free Wind Turbine Solar Panel Free Give away contest

Awesome video! Do you need a rectifier for EACH wind turbine or other
device that’s hooked up? If so, do they all get wired in series with the
charge controller ?
Wind turbines for the beginner How to part one by Missouri Wind and Solar
Great “How To” video Jeff !!!! Really opened my eyes to some new energy
sources !
I hope you know how important you sharing your knowledge and experience is
to other “Utubers” !!
Salute !!
I like your efforts on keeping us informed. I live in Casper Wyoming and we
have an average of 12 mph, and often up to 35 to 45 mph, what would you
recommend in windmill for an area that can and will have high winds?
Excellent video Jeff, very informative. Thanks for doing these video’s
with all the practical and logical information for everyone to use!
will these work

Is that just a regular alternator? and can I fabricate the same deal with a
rebuilt gear box?
nice presentation. just 1 question. your 300 watt wind turbin can charged
600 amps 12 volt battery?
excellent
Sir, thank you for this information! What solution can you give me about
lightning conditions? Blessings from windy Cape Town ~ South Africa
Hi Jeff one of the best video’s to-date on the use. of Wind turbines and
solar
very instructive video.
just the thing that i’m not sure about is about the output voltage entering
the rectifier, is it constant or shouldn’t be there some device to regulate
it to 12 v ?
FANTASTIC VIDEO!!! (,,,the content is so good that the sound trouble at the
end is totally forgivable) Thank you very much for making this video!
Thank you. The first 5 minutes of this video saved me at least $100. I
have been battling with wire running to my charge controller.. did not know
that solid copper was a no-no.. even went with the heavier wire as wire
gauge chart says it should handle my amps.. but only showing half of what
should be there.. so i’ll be going with wire strand.. thanks again =]
What keeps the wires coming off the win turbine from twisting if the
rotates too many times in one direction? Are there stops with the mounts
or something?
Man, the best piece of info ever in the whole net. I had 2 days trying to
understand the system until I landed here. Greetings from Panama.
* loved it when you hooked up that radio something like KSHE 95
came on…ha!
Do you have constant speed bladed wind turbines?
Can you use house wire on a ac wind turbine?
Is there any kind of material you can make blades out of that will rest in
a large pitch but flatten out to a slight pitch at higher RPMs? I know this
is probably a dumb question but I thought it was worth asking.
Im making a wind system in my home country and i was wonder where can i
get the main items for the control system and can i get some links
I looked all over yotude, there is not one video’s on hooking up a 3 phase
grid tie inverter, the plug and play ones, can you make one?
awesome video what about VAWT?
I know quite a bit about them myself – which is how I can tell you aren’t
full of marketing BS! – I wouldn’t mind trying to build a working version,
of my own wind turbine design called a “Wind Engine” (search for you-tube
video of a mock-up working model I built). Take a look at it and let me
know what you think.
all electricity flows on the surface of the wire. therefore stranded wire
has vastly more surface area and so can carry more amperage AC or DC it
doesn’t matter. more surface equals more amperage. For prof of this concept
look to super high amperage cable they always have super fine stranded
threads ie welding cable. Everyone should consider never using single
strand AKA solid wire on anything ever ever ever.
Looking at the death toll for romex wired houses should convince even the
most skeptical
