The world needs a new source of energy, an unspillable source.

  1. Obama is afraid of being blamed by voters for the oil spill, even though he obviously didn’t cause it, but that’s how people think in America. George Bush was blamed for Hurricane Katrina and the flooding of New Orleans, as if that makes any sense.

Obama wants to look tough, manly, and like he is doing something. It is easy to insult and blame BP, but not very fair. The oil spill was an accident, nothing more. The explosion and spill were not intended by anyone and there is no evidence of any negligence.

Obama has been losing his luster since taking office in January 2009. He is no longer the darling of liberals, moderates, or anyone else. The harsh realities of running the country have shown Obama to be a politician limited talent. My guess is that he will be voted out in the next election (November 2012)

  2. I live on the Gulf Coast and I actually feel that Obama is probably doing everything he can. He has been here 2 or 3 times already and has instructed BP to get on the ball and get this whole situation taken care of. He is expected to be here on Monday and Tuesday of next week. To check on progress first hand. He is showing his face and seems to be deeply concerned. And I think that is what the people want to see. He is our leader and he needs to lead. He has continued to stay in touch with BP and is putting the pressure where it should be supplied. But the harm is done and the people on the coast are surely going to suffer for it. No fishing or shrimping and the beaches are closed. It’s going to be a long summer.

  3. We need a leader in this crisis and Obama is playing politician.
Slamming BP is not leadership, sinking BP will help no one.
We need BP strong to clean up and compensate for the spill.
Alienating one of our stalwart allies is of no help.
We need Obama to step up to the plate put partisan politics aside and lead us out of this crisis.
This will mark his presidency, the nation needs a strong leader.
Obama needs to let Louisiana resume drilling it is their bread and butter.
The deep water oil regs need a review.
This cant be accomplished by playing a blame game.

  4. He’s stuck with a more and more conservative public and Congress who oppose the strict regulations and severe penalties necessary; as with healthcare, the people won’t support what’s needed: more intervention from a Gov’t they basically despise and don’t trust.
He needs to use his executive authority to show them all that he Is in charge instead of what he’s been doing-wasting his time being conciliatory to conservatives who live to destroy what he’s after.
To get things done, you show them you mean it; that they can lose.

  5. The general feeling in the UK..was that based on a poll or do you speak on behalf of UK now?
I am from England and i dont think he looks weak but BP is responsible for the worst oil disaster in the American history ruinning many lives in the Gulf and its ongoing so what do you suggest Obama do?

  6. just like all the other past presidents here…he’s just talking, no real action.

there was the British Petroleum refinery explosion here in Texas…BP got there hand slapped

the British Petroleum major oil leak up in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska…BP got there hand slapped, changed there name then too.

the British Petroleum Gulf of Mexico oil leak…BP will get there hand slapped again.

  7. that is like going to court and having all your family and friends sitting on the jury

  8. Honey in my opinion no one knows what to do and they’re all looking foolish. Have a good week end too.

Americans: How do you feel Obama is handling the BP oil spill?

Here, across the Big Pond in the U.K.,the general feeling we get is the he is weak and trying to look tough by threatening BP itself. What do you Americans think? Thanks and have a bootiful weekend. :-) x Sarah
