Of course not ALL fed positions would be able to use current hybrids but many can. Should they start retiring gas only vehicles and phase in hybrid/electric vehicles.
(may be broke/outdated!)

It makes economic sense.
At 15,000 miles/year, it takes only about 3-6 years (depending on the cost of gas) to pay off the extra cost of a hybrid. This is substantially less than the life of the vehicle, so over the life of the car hybrids are much cheaper to own than traditional cars.
Of course they should..
Based on some of your past posts, you apparently have had many jobs.
Yes, wherever such a thing is reasonable and feasible. Then they can preach to the rest of us who actually have to pay for our own fuel. Not doing so would be equivalent to Al Gore complaining about carbon footprints as he flies around in a private jet.
They actually cost more. When you take into account the savings vs time vs the cost of replacement batteries vs the total cost of the vehicle.
At this point in history hybrids don’t make economic sense.
Great… MORE cost to tax payers?
Hybrids cost more… More to buy, more to maintain, and they don’t last as long (check the research) – this all equals to higher taxes!
No. Hybrid MPG was found to be grossly overstated in real world scenearios. If you notice, Hybrid MPG claims are now much closer to normal vehicles. So basically you pay a lot more for very little improvement in gas milage. The payback time for $$ saved is now longer that typical vehicle life and you drive a little deathtrap to boot.
I agree, the government should lead by example. Still waiting for the Hybrid F-150 4×4
why not, they’re the ones who are going to figure out how to dispose those millions of tons of toxic acid from all the batteries….they might as well start practicing with their own vehicles…
ABSOLUTELY ! If for no other reason, then they will pay for themselves with reduced gas consumption.
