Does anyone else wonder if the solutions being presented to stop the oil leak are the best ones or simply the best ones that will enable BP to continue to pump oil out of the well (which they have a considerable investment in). If this well is like many others they drilled thousands of feet below the sea floor before reaching the oil; couldn’t you just use a small explosive device somewhere along the subterranean pipe and let the the leak be covered by a few thousand feet of earth? I am not an expert so scientific minds please let me know your thoughts.
