2. @8waltertank Yes, this can be fixed, but not easily, and not soon enough. It is suspected this is more than just a matter of capping off a pipe, there may be broken equipment below the surface that is allowing oil to flow out and its simply rising up around the pipe because that is the only exit for now – until the earth around it erodes from the pressure and all hell breaks loose. Speaking out about how disastrous this really is is not meant to scare people, its telling it like it is.

Now they cut the top of the pipe off NOW YOU’RE SEEING REAL FUCKIN MAYHEM! a lot of families are gonna go hungry because of this, they depended on the seas to earn a living, we’re not gonna recover from this for GENERATIONS to come. 7. @yay78900 They could cut the bolts off the flange on top of the BOP and install a flange with a valve attached to it , with the valve open and then shut the valve after the new flange was attached. Of course they would have to replace the bolts that they cut off. This would be a little difficult but, HEY…. We’ve been to the moon !!!!!!!!!

    Then after all the oil spews out and the pressure normalises, the huge cavern will fill with water undermining the shelf above. It will then fall in on itself naturally sealing the hole in the process while creating a giant tsunami 40 feet tall to wipe out the entire US Eastern seaboard. That is way beyond bad.:(

    This is not a “leak” or a “spill” its a “HUGE WIDE OPEN HOLE IN THE SEA BED”.
    What we are seeing is an enormous amount of pressure pushing the oil, fighting its way up the hole BP drilled…
    * What comes next, When the pressure is too much for the hole is :-
    1. The ground will split
    2. The ground will give way and like a VOLCANO an unimaginable and .. again.. UNSTOPPABLE amount of oil will completely DESTROY our ocean.

21. I’m curious why they didn’t retrofit the shear jaws with some carbide crimping dies and end it, why just shear and let it leak?
