Question by rockstar540: Does anyone think we should put heavy mud and concrete into the relief well will help?
Does anyone think that putting mud and concrete into the relief well will work. Or is it a possibility that doing so would not work like the top kill that they already tryed? What happens when it does not work and the relief well spills out more oil then the first well? This oil is about 4 or 5 miles down under the ocean. Does anyone think if we blew it up with a bomb or a nuke that it would have any effect what so ever in the gulf that far down? Wouldn’t it colapse the rock or melt it and stop the leak with nothing but a fart bubble from the blast?

This is the classic way to kill a well. It has been done thousand of times. You are simply counterbalancing the pressure of the oil reservoir with the hydrostatic pressure of the heavy mud (which is about twice the weight of water). Once you have done that you then inject a large plug of cement to fill the well bore and seal it.
Using any type of explosive will not seal the well. It will at best fragment the rock leaving many fissures for the oil and gas to escape to the ocean floor. You have to remember the oil that has been flowing into the Gulf for the last three months comes out of a rock that has pores as tiny as grains of sand. The fissures in the exploded rock would be much bigger and not stop any of the oil from leaking. In fact, it might just make it worse.
The problem with the top kill was two fold. One they had to pump in enough mud to match the flow rate of the well and then even more to force any of it down the well bore. Secondly they had to have sufficient pressure (thousands of psi) to over come the pressure of the flowing oil.
With bottom kill from the relief well, they all ready have a large column of mud in the relief well and its pressure at the bottom is greater than the pressure in the well bore. All they have to do it pump in enough extra mud to displace the oil flowing from the reservoir.
