In most U S states, a small gas motor can be put on a bicycle without needing a license. Do any velo companies offer a gas motor/pedal powered velomobile? A weed-eater type motor should yield about 200 mpg + – if equipped with a spindle-drive.

Not to brag, but the Rowdy Wright State Raider tandem team (kludgy black car) pulled ahead of the dragon wagon in the final rankings…I think our car was able to withstand crashes and not fall apart quite as much yours did.
