The Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KENGEN) has procured 2 new electric drilling rigs. The rigs will be used to cut down the cost of drilling geothermal wells, a development that could help lower the cost of power in the future. By the end of the project, Kengen expects to have the capacity to produce over 980 mw of geothermal power by 2018 once the company completes its geothermal power generation program.
