Question by the treemeister: how are they stopping the oil spill?
i know enough about the politics of it and stuff, but I really don’t understand what this “static kill” procedure is that they’re using to stop it. can someone send me a link or just explain it?

Drilling mud is very dense (oil is less dense than water thus it floats) The sea water is going into the broken well and displacing the oil out, plus the pressure of the earth on the sea floor is squeezing the oil out of the hole. So they are pumping the drilling mud into the hole to plug the hole from both sides to keep the oil under the sea floor and to keep the water from getting into the well.
