  1. The feelings vary from person to person here in the states. There are many who view nuclear power as a very good thing providing energy at reasonable rates in a fairly clean way. On the other hand there are those opposed to it because the waste takes so long to halflife itself out. Then there are supporters of bothsides that don’t really know what they’re talking about. Those are usually the ones you see protesting and counterprotesting.
In my opinion, it’s nice while it lasts but eventually we’ll be treating uranium like oil, a diminishing natural resource.

  2. Many of us would like to see more nuclear plants started but, what are we going to do with the waste that lasts for hundreds of thousands of years?

  3. Well France generates about 75% of their electricity by nuclear energy. But of course they’re a lot more technologically advanced then the U.S.

Actually until I found the 2 polls cited below I would have sworn that most Americans were against it.

How do Americans feel about nuclear energy?

The reason I’m asking about this is that radiation is found in nature. Other countries have benefitted from the use of nuclear energy and it can be made safe. As well as reused. It has been a long time since the days of unpopular movies about nuclear energy so would people consider it a positive source of energy for today?
I’m an American and I didn’t mean to give the impression I was from somewhere else. I just wanted American opinions. Sorry and thanks.
