The world needs a new source of energy, an unspillable source.

  1. I live about a 1/2 hr from a nuclear power plant and its workers fuel our local economy. We also have dirt cheap electric rates because of it. I have absolutely nothing against nuclear power.

  2. Personally I think it’s a very sustainable way of getting energy, since it doesn’t emit CO2 and plutonium seems to be in abundance (unlike oil and coal). However a small mistake can have horrible consequences (remember Chernobyl?), since several dangerous chemicals and waves are involved in nuclear power. It is also toxic for the people who work in a nuclear station (people working in a nuclear plant have much higher risks of getting cancer than oil power station workers).

  3. I’m all for it!

Along with increased production of coal, solar, oil, natural gas, wind, tides, geothermal, and giant mutant hamsters on wheels.

    DEVELOP IT ALL!

  4. yea it still take energy. your cell phone drain the power, beside that it will over charge the battery shorten the battery life.

  5. you can’t have energy with out waste. nuclear energy is one of the most powerful sources of energy and therefore my opinion is it’s waste is the most deadly. The reason why we don’t want every one in the world using it is because there is no way of making it without creating weapons. the less people capable of recreating hiroshima the better

  6. It’s a popular fallacy that the uranium used in power plants would be able to be used in weapons without any alteration. I think nuclear power plants create a lot of electricity in a very clean way. I don’t see any reason that nuclear power plants can’t be run in a safe manner. The Chernobyl disaster was the result of a poorly executed experiment that became uncontrollable. There are many nuclear power plants in the United States today, and I think most people would be surprised to find out that their electricity comes from nuclear power.

  7. Nothing wrong with nuclear if done right. Unfortunately it costs way to much to do right and companies cut all kinds of corners to save money. As it is, a new nuke power plant costs around $8 Billion to build and decommission. Also there is always the problem of human errors. Plus, we can’t forget about the unending TERRORIST THREAT we are all supposed to be afraid of all the time.

  8. Hi Katie,

I have absolutely no problem with Nuclear energy, just as long as it is used as a gateway to other, cleaner, renewable, alternative energy sources, like wind, solar, wave, etc.

Since obviously the technology for nuclear is already here, we can get started pretty soon, but there is no reason as to why we can’t invest in a whole mix of energy sources.

For example, in Denmark, 20% of the nation’s electricity comes from wind energy. There is absolutely no reason why this can’t be done in the United States.

    Hope this helps.

How do you feel about nuclear energy?

I must gather information on nuclear energy for a forensics project. I got the facts, but how do you feel? What are your OPINIONS?
