  1. Hydrogen Peroxide dries out the piercing and keeps it open longer which slows the healing process. A piercing is a wound and needs to be treated as such. Peroxide is just to harsh for it. I’d recommend H2O aftercare spray or any other type of salt water solution. I have my monroe pierced and anytime it got infected I’d use H2O and it’d seriously clear up in a couple days.

  2. yeah i’ve heard hydrogen peroxide dries it and take longer to heal. it’s better than nothing though. if you got it pierced professionally, they should give something to clean your ear with, but if not then mix sea salt and water and apply it with a q-tip. also keep twisting it. and i heard vaseline is good for piercings because it keeps stuff out of the piercing, like bacteria, but i haven’t actually tried it.

    hope that helps

  3. it’s bad because the alcohol can stop and or slow the healing process. make sure you only play with the earing in the shower after itswet and your hands are clean. you can use sea salt and warwater to clean it or go to any piecing place and they will give you cleaning spray.

How is hydrogen peroxide bad for infected ear piercings and what are alternative methods?

My ear got infected and was oozing bloody puss a few days ago. My mom put Hydrogen Peroxide and Neosporin on it and it hasn’t pussed or anything since, however, it still feels swollen and it’s hard to/hurts to twist the ear ring. I got on here to look for answers and kept reading the hydrogen peroxide is bad for it, which brings me to my original question. How is hydrogen peroxide bad for infected ear piercings and what are alternative methods?
