When will we realize nuclear power is bad mojo?? There are no guarantees that its is 100% safe.

The same could be said about anything, especially virus.
To destroy the whole planet, we do not have enough nuclear reactors around. There is probably not enough uranium on the whole surface of the planet to make an impact.
And one has to remember that the quake and tsunami account for 100% of the current victims. The nuclear reactors? 0% so far.
Now, if you are uncomfortable with the energy solution that Japan picked, you are free to go tell them, propose AND finance an alternative.

it would be if we dont make the locations dangerous
worry more about overpopulation. this will be a major issue in the 21st century. nuclear power will be one of the major reasons we will all survive this century.
