The world needs a new source of energy, an unspillable source.

  1. one way is to use DC. Use a DC generator, then use an inverter to generate the AC with the frequency and voltage needed. A good inverter will accept various DC levels at the input, or you can use a battery to level out the voltage.

  2. You must regulate the speed of the turbine to get 60 Hz from the generator and regulate the excitation to the generator to get 120 v. The generator will give you low distortion. efficiency is more of a mechanical problem.

How to get constant 120 volt output from a variable-output hydroelectric source?

So I’m attempting to design a hydroelectric system that will obviously be producing variable power. Lets say I use an AC generator, so directly from there I have varying frequency and power output. I want the final product to be 60Hz, 120V RMS AC. What steps must I take to get there, with reasonably high efficiency and low distortion?
