I’m sorry but that’s the worst advice I’ve ever seen. The environment
inside this brush holder is HOT from loads of current and your resistive
solder will melt. Notice that the factory WELDED the copper braid to the
screw holder on both pigtails. I would better understand if you CRIMPED
the two cutoff ends together in a lug barrel. (Cut off the terminal ring,
stick both braids in each end and crimp using a quality crimping tool.)
This gives a much better connection and it will not melt apart.
You took perfectly good new brushes and FILED THEM DOWN? NOooooooo.
