The world needs a new source of energy, an unspillable source.

  1. We don’t have any “food shortages.” We waste food and everything else in this country like there’s no tomorrow. What we do have is increasing poverty as a result of a predatory global capitalist system which turns food into a commodity which can be patented, which favors the mass corporate production of only a few profitable foodstuffs and attempts to stamp out peasant farming collectives (see Vandana Shiva), and which prevents people from being able to AFFORD to BUY food. This is the same in all third-world countries. There is more than enough food to go around; the food “shortage” is a total myth.

  2. Honest is not in the american vocabulary. We would rather claim we are helping the suffering people win their independent.Cuba sit 90 miles from our shores and is run by a communist dictator who has killed thousands of his own people, yet we do nothing.Remember the saying “oil is king, the rest is bling” That say’s it all.We don’t invade anyone who don’t have something we need.

If Taiwan were producing 90 million barrels of top-notch oil per day, would we have gone in? WAIT!!…?

Question by serenely, soMEone: If Taiwan were producing 90 million barrels of top-notch oil per day, would we have gone in? WAIT!!…?
Hear me out:

I’m not talking about “rich oilmen” killing innocents, here.

I’m talking about global starvation in the wake of any sizable shortage of oil.

Fact is, without cheap, abundant, transportable energy reserves, there WILL be mass food shortages, even here in the US. I’m not sure why we don’t tap the huge reserves outside the mid-East but that’s a different question.

About 22 years ago, a movement rose up in Taiwan crying for independence. Since only thugs were behind it, it’s fortunate for everyone we never sent bombers. In 1947, there was a mass slaughter of 30,000. At the time, China no seat at the U.N.

Even then, DC didn’t go in.

There are fewer than 7 million people in ALL of Libya.
In Taiwan? 23 million.

Unconfirmed reports are that 16 people have died in Libya.
Taiwan? About the estimates are from 10,000 to 30,000.

Yes, the world needs oil to plant, harvest and distribute food. Or, at least, it needs energy of some kind.

MAIN QUESTION: Why can’t we just be honest about it?

corrections: …China had no seat on the U.N. — …The estimates are from… (no “About”)…

Quack Master: That’s the only thing I can think of.
