    the operation of the sun is NOT ONLY consistent with nuclear fusion, but also with general relativity, qwantum mechanics, big bang theory, the laws of thermodynamics, and so on. we know a lot about our sun.

14. oh, you corrected it… unfortunately, its still wrong. i dont remember which ones, but if i remember correctly, two research experiments managed to produce more energy than is required to sustain the plasma for a short amount of time.

    ITER, which will be started in 2011, will be able to produce 10 times more energy than is required to sustain the plasma.

    this is wrong. many magnetic confinement fusion experiments have proven that it is possible.

    this is wrong. if you look at the design of thermonuclear weapons, it is clear that the X-rays do not come in contact with the fusion fuel, because the fusion-fuel is surrounded by a pusher-layer of metal, depleted uranium is often used for this, and it absorbs x-rays very well. according to your limited understanding, those bombs shoudnt explode. but our sun should explode instantly.

17. cabbotron: our current understanding of the laws of the universe is based on TONS OF EXPERIMENTAL DATA. this understanding suggests that two positively charged particles need to collide at high velocity in order to fuse. this is consistent with all examples of nuclear fusion we know: the bomb, the sun and the stars, particle colliders, inertial confinement fusion, magnetic confinement fusion.

19. Ok, one theory is that matter is actually just a condensed form of energy. At the big bang, there was pure energy from that singularity that was before the big bang. This expanded and condensed to form sub atomic particles, and as the universe expanded the sub atomic became hydrogen ect.

    Basically the amount of energy needed to travel at light speed = that needed to form matter and thus produces mass, and that prevents us from traveling faster as we need more energy to travel faster.

I am studying nuclear fusion in graduate school, and I just made a video about magnetic fusion research and the need for increased government funding in the US.
