I’m working on a small torch for art and jewellery. The flame is tiny, but extremely hot – 2800 degrees Celsius (5000 F). It easily melts (1600 C) and boils (2230 C) quartz, iron wire, and just about anything which you can get a hold of. I am using stoichiometric mix, so the temperature is maximal, but it is quite oxidizing – the iron wire burns (hence the sparks). I’m going to write an article about making of this torch.
