Fusion produces absolutely no harmful byproducts
i don’t believe spent fission fuel can be reprocessed, only stored, because it is still very harmful to life
fission is cheaper than coal, and produces no air pollution (does produce radioactive materials which could be seen as a form of polution)
The main advantage of fusion reactions is that it is pollution free. large power generation from small amount of fuel.
But the only disadvantage is that fusion takes place only undr high pressure and temperature. There are only two fusion reactors in world. In Cadarache, france. And oxford in England. The fuel used in it is sea water. And after power generation it develops only neutrons which are not dangerous at all.
You’re mixing up fusion and fission reactors; two very different things.
The main advantage of a fusion reactor is almost limitless supply of cheap fuel.
A fusion reactor doesn’t produce many radioactive byproducts but it does produce some. The vessel and other components containing the reaction will become radioactive over time.
There is no spent fuel to be reprocessed. That’s a problem with Fission reactors.
A fission or fusion power plant produces no CO2.
There are no fusion power plants in operation today. There exists only experimental reactors which at best have produced limited fusion reactions for scientific study of the containing plasmas.
