  1. It also depends on how many miles are on the car. To be on the safe side and to treat your engine better I would say every 3k or 3 months which ever is first. Take care of your car and it will take care of you. My mother has had he same cadillac sedan deville since like 99 and it’s a 95 and it is still going strong. She keeps up on her maintenance. Also for the best answer call a cadillac dealer and ask them.

  2. check your owners manual. it’ll say. it’s usually 6000-7500 for that car. if you use the new castrol edge, gm has said they’ll honor the warranty even at 15,000 mile change intervals if you change just the filter at 7500… but that ONLY applies to castrol edge.

  3. If your car is still under the manufacturer’s power train warranty, I’d stick with a synthetic blend oil and change it at the maximum allowed mileage in your owner’s maintenance manual. But if your car is now out of warranty, based on my 50 years experience with http://www.mobiloil.com synthetic oil usage on all my cars, I change the full synthetic oil every 9,000 miles (or one year’s time whichever occurs first). This assumes the engine is running normally with no emission’s problems like a bad PCV valve or misfiring cylinders etc.

  4. yes full synthetic oil may be more pricier, but let’s your car run smoother and sometimes you could feel the difference. i don’t think it matters if it’s a regular car or caddy, still change in couple of months.

  5. Here is what you should do. Amsoil oil is good for one year or 25,000 miles. Synthetic oil lasts longer, gives better protection, and also gives best fuel economy. Mobil one and Pennzoil Platinum are excellent oils. You only really need to change either one every year, or even longer. I have been using synthetic oil in ALL my cars for over 25 years. I believe that it is the only way to go. I don’t even use a schedule for it. When the oil gets dark or thick, change it. Keep a quart to top up with in between times. Depending upon which Cadillac engine you have, the oil pumps in these things are like tinker toys. They need all the protection they can get. Good luck!!

  6. I change mine every 10,000 mile, but I have a modern bmw, so not much dirt or unburned gas get collected by the oil.

If you drive the caddy a lot on the freeway then I think you can go 10,000 between changes, otherwise if it makes you feel better, can change it at around 8000.

  7. Well first off even regular oil doesn’t need to be changed every 3,000 miles. It’s just one of those things these quick change oil places and oil companies like to keep going. Regular oil will make it to 7,500 miles now but you need to check the oil level because oil burn off happens even with good running engines. My 1998 Dakota had a 7,500 mile change interval, the quality of oil has improved a lot so it lasts a lot longer. Check out the owner’s manual in some of the newer cars if you don’t have one go to a dealership and look at one. By the way I am not a conspiracy theory person, I just think the companies are taking advantage of people not educating themselves.

Q&A: How often does synthetic oil need changed?

Question by Ang: How often does synthetic oil need changed?
I got a cadillac and just found out i have to pay alot more for “full synthetic oil” and my dad thinks with that, you don’t have to get an oil change as often as normal cars, which i think was 3k miles… How often is it in caddys?? THANKS!

I never change my oil — I just change the engine ever so often….
