The world needs a new source of energy, an unspillable source.

  1. He knows nothing about drilling, he hates southerners and wanted to allow the mess to become horrible before he ordered BP to plug the damn leak.

  2. You guys have been saying for HOW LONG Obama needs to take responsibility for the spill?
I knew the second I read the headline this morning you guys would now JUMP ALL OVER HIM and use this as an excuse to further blame him for something that was’t his fault.
Obama’s not a petroleum engineer is he? Let me know as soon as he is.
What was he supposed to do?
BP engineers wanted to keep the well functioning for obvious reasons. That didn’t work so now they are trying something else.
I’m guessing Obama nationalizing all the oil wells would not be to your liking either would it?

  3. I just find the Republicans view on this fascinating.

You were irritated beyond measure that the banks were bailed out. We should have let the fail on principle. (never mind that actually, they lost OUR money) Let the 401ks go to zero. It’s princple. So when they bailed out it was the huge massive nationalization of the banks. Obama is a socialist!

Then it was that government shouldn’t regulate. Let business do it’s thing! Get out of the way and let them make money money money!

So now we have a huge accident that was caused by very little oversight by the agency that was supposed to manage it. In fact, probably a good example of what no regulations would look like.

So now, the government is supposed to take over. Save the oil companies (you know BP made a paltry 6 billion the last quarter) and clean up their mess. The government is responsible and Obama was asleep at the wheel.

So now you guys want big government?? I’m confused.

How much expertise does the government have on these types of disasters? Should it fall to the government to basically clean up when these multi-billion dollar companies screw up because they cut corners to save money? They get to drill and make billions of dollars but then we foot the clean up bill? Do we have to pay to develop the technologies and staff a department to respond to this stuff? Why isn’t this the responsibility of the company?

At the end of the day, some disasters are not easily fixable. They take time. It’s not like they have been sitting around. This isn’t the first time this has happened. The last time was in 1979, off the coast of Mexico and it took 10 months to stop.

  4. Great point!! He wanted it to be a HUGE disaster so that he can stop offshore drilling. But now he has to pay the piper, actions have consequences!! He has been cow toeing to anger politics, what goes around comes around.

  5. Because he knew you’d be on the internet today spewing your hatred of him. He wanted to give you an excuse.

Q&A: If 0bama was calling the shots from the beginning, why didn’t he order Top Kill from the beginning?

Question by gws35: If 0bama was calling the shots from the beginning, why didn’t he order Top Kill from the beginning?
Yesterday, when it appeared Top Kill would be successful at halting the biggest oil spill in history, the president made the startling announcement that he was in charge. In fact, he declared that he had been calling the shots from the beginning.

Notwithstanding the fact that this contradicts every public statement he had made up to that point, this announcement raises a new question: if that’s so, then why did he wait for the oil spill to become the worst oil spill in history before he ordered Top Kill?

crickets chirping…..
future, looks like you’re the one trying to have it both ways.

If Obama was in charge all along, that means he can’t blame BP anymore.

Either he was in charge or not. He can’t have it both ways.

It was as though he was waiting for the crisis to worsen.
