Question by jupiter_room: Why won’t my scooter start?
Hi, I’ve got a 2001 Aprilia SR125 petrol scooter. It’s been sitting a month with a fuel tank of petrol and i’ve just topped it up with the same 2 stroke oil i’ve used throughout.
There is no kill switch, immobiliser or alarm, only a steering lock.
The battery is fully charged and working perfectly, the starter clicks as it should, the carb is clean as are all jets, gaskets etc. Plenty of fuel flow, Very strong spark and good compression, the exhaust is clear.
The engine wants to start and sounds like it would normally before starting but won’t fire!!
A mechanic had a look at it but couldn’t get it going after cranking it for ages and twidding the air mixture screw.
To get it to a garage is a 4 mile push =( …I have no other transport!!
A bit of a long shot but does anyone have any ideas? Or just tell me what it COULD be?!
dwagner20 – what are my cam’s and pushrod?
this is a 2 stroke engine remember! Do you mean cam belt?
oh and the spark plug is new – i’ll try anyway!! =)

try replacing the spark plug. it may not be firing under compression. this is a common problem on 2 cycle engines. the plug looks like it has spark but doesn’t fire inside the cylinder. good luck. also you will probably need the carb readjusted from your mechanic screwing with it.good luck
