The world needs a new source of energy, an unspillable source.

  1. Well they both involved crude oil. But one came from a ship so the amount of oil was very limited the other is coming from a well so the supply of oil is far greater. The crude in Alaska was thicker and in colder water so it didn’t break up very fast but the BP oil is thinner and in warmer so it breaks up quicker which makes it harder to skim off.

  2. Exxon’s was from a ship loaded with Crude oil and the exact amount was know. It was easier to contain it. But BP’s is from a existing well and it took more than 60 days to stop it and the exact amount is still a case being debated. So in amount wise BP’s is more than Exxon’s. The Exxon spill did not drift to far causing wide spread damage to environment. But BP’s due to the nature of the wave pattern, climate etc has spread to a great extend affecting a lot of communities.

To What extent are the Exxon oil spill and the BP oil spill similar?

How are they similar and different? Which one cause more damage?
