The world needs a new source of energy, an unspillable source.

  1. I watched this video for 20 seconds then stopped cause it was already full of misinformation.

  2. no way to hook it up to the grid, too expensive to maintain.

But I am against nuke power too.

  3. This really tells me that you just don’t like nuclear power. Instead of giving a solution to a problem, your response is “shut it down”. How about give a way to fix it. Your as bad as the people demonstrating and sitting in trees to stop trees from being harvested. Don’t be part of the problem – come up with a solution!! Shut it down is not a solution!

  4. I heard a day or so ago that two natural gas generating electric plants, previously retired, are now being fired up again to replace SOME of the power loss we will have without San Onofre. Previously retired plants!…oh great!

  5. Nothing I’ve written is contrary to any unbiased findings of scientific research. I am free of nuclear industry funding. Fear mongering is still the mission of Beyond Reality, that is how they raise donations.

  6. Shades of NewSpeak (1984). Those who deal in the illnesses caused by nuke radiation are “Health Physicists”. Doctors and scientists in Germany who have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that NPPs cause childhood leukaema are “scare mongering”. Listen to the epidemiologists and clinical doctors who are free of nuke industry funding, and are thus free to publish unbiased findings of their scientific research

  7. Right next to the I-5 expressway, and Camp Pendleton USMC base. So THIS is how we “support the troops”!

  8. Nuclear regulations and safety is a really misunderstood topic. It’s important for those with the expertise in this area take the initiative to raise awareness of the issue, especially for the citizens who live near these facilities. It is necessary to be aware, but not fear monger.

  9. This is just childish fear mongering. San Onofre doesn’t want less oversight, they bought some steam generators which had quality problems from the manufacturer. It’s not like they wanted to buy a bad product, anymore than anyone else does. Beyond Nuclear should change their name to Beyond Realilty.

  10. We should build a lot of new solar power plants in California and decommission the nuclear stations, Solar is the safest way to make energy!

Trouble brewing at the San Onofre nuclear power plant in CA

Paul Gunter, Beyond Nuclear joins Thom Hartmann. All is not well at the San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant in California – where federal investigators have found major designs flaws in the plant. Just what kind of risk do these designs flaws pose – and could we be looking at a future nuclear disaster on the West Coast? And are our fish getting more and more radioactive? Should you bring a geiger counter to the restaurant or supermarket yet?
