  1. There has been an issue about the relationship of geothermal energy harnessing and earthquakes. There are roaming news that geothermal locations where geothermal plants are built are having “minor earth seizures”. But like what I said, it’s roaming news, so I really don’t know if it’s true.

  2. A Good installation can cost $10,000,$20,000. It varies by location. This investment is one disadvantage. It causes many people to wait or seriously look at solar, wind power.Number two If something goes wrong a lot of digging must be done.Number 3 if a new technology about geo comes along it is hard to change what you have

  3. there are only limited areas around the world where it is possible to harvest the power of geothermal energy, therefore it is not economical in that sense

  4. One I recall reading about in college years ago was corrosion of the piping/equipment associated with bringing super-hot liquid or steam out of the ground. The hot liquids/steam would could also carry toxic gases with it. This would increase the operating cost of an operation – requiring more capital outlays for new equipment, maintenance, etc.

what are the disadvantages of using geothermal energy?

i have to do a project on geothermal energy. can anyone tell me the disadvantages of using it?
