Hi John,
Greetings from the Tropics of South Florida
They used diamond drill saws to cut the pipe to put a cap on it. The drill got stuck half way through so they had to take another drill and start from the other side. Thus, leaving a jagged-ed mess, so the cap doesn’t fit well at all. If anything they made it worse, and even more oil is coming out now.
Not to mention we have had another leak in the ocean floor open up on it’s own and now it is leaking. They do not pay out the amounts of money they promise, they lie to the public, they tell us it is alright to eat the fish, shrimp and oysters.
And, in my opinion with all that is going on. I expect BP down the road to declare bankruptcy and to hand the expense of this mess back to the American Tax payer. A debt we American’s can’t afford.

Latest I heard was that oil leaks are occurring around the original drill hole – a seepage of oil through the seabed – which indicates that the apex of the dome is cracking. If so, this is unlikely to stop and a DOME COLLAPSE may occur releasing the vast quantities of oil underneath.
I read that the oil reservoir under the seabed extends from Texas inland across La., Miss., and Alabama to a couple hundred miles south of the Mississippi delta – it’s huge and potentially has comparable reserves found in Iraq and Saudi Arabia. If the leaks continues, really a gusher, and it is getting worse, this may really, truly be an event that contaminates the world’s oceans for decades to come. The long-term consequences of a dome collapse… And they are not mentioning the enormous deposits of methane hydrates (frozen water saturated with methane found around deep and cold locations in the Gulf of Mexico seabed) that may melt and exacerbate the global-warming problem.
The oil they are collecting in that big box put over the largest “leak” is mixed with salt-water. BP’s refineries are unable to keep up with the oil they DO collect – probably because not just of the quantity of oil gathered, which is thankfully a good thing they’re doing, of course, but that the water has to be separated from the oil – not so easy with salt water which has, the salt in the water, that is, a tendency to bind with the carbon molecules.
It’s complicated, I think we’re fluckt up the arsh, and god only knows how serious this problem is that could have been avoided if there wasn’t so much avarice, greed in the nature of Man….but just with what I’ve seen and read through shared information – it’s looking worse and worse.
They managed to cap the majority of the leak. They’re capturing 12k gallons per day of the 16k coming out.
I heard on the BBC that BP (british petroleum) is half owen by us British and half by the Americans when I say us I actually mean share holders and investors, and the company in charge of the drilling and tools is an american company. Therefore their are more americans involved in the procedure so therefore it is there fault(my own opinion) also they could have said no to it and they didn’t.
Also I don’t like the way America have been blaming the British people and don’t say you haven’t if your American and you read this as you fully well know you have. Also I don’t like the way our Members of Parliment and leading government party have been blamed as they are not in control of BP nor are they shareholders. So even if it was concluded to be BP’s fault people shoud stop blaming the government and all the normal innocent people. For whoevers mistakes this is..!
