    photo-conductivity cell: its conductivity changes when light hits it. Also know as a photo-resistive cell:

    photo-voltaic cell: it generates a voltage when light hits it. Also known as a solar cell because it is used to generate electric power from sunlight:

    It includes solar cells, photo-resistive cells, and also photo-detectors used to detect individual photons rather than to generate power:
