  1. Well these are the facts about Japan…
They have no fossil fuel resources so had to rely on nuclear fuel.(What else were they going to do? Sit in the dark?).
They knew exactly where the danger spots were for quakes, and when they built nuclear power stations in these areas did what they thought was enough to protect them. But it wasn’t enough. In some cases walls that were there to protect would have done if they had been 1.5 metres higher.

So the answer is, that in countries like the UK and US we don’t need to take chances and should be embracing nuclear power.

    It would create jobs,etc.

People probably thought that electricity was the work of the devil once. We need to move forward.

What is your opinion of nuclear energy in light of this most recent accident?

Should nations continue to develop this form of “clean” energy or scrap the whole nuclear energy program?

Nuclear energy is still the safest and cleanest energy source. No other energy plant would have survived any better after a disaster of this magnitude.

As far as solar and wind, after 30 years of government subsidies, we still get less than 5% of our energy. It just doesn’t work as a replacement for oil/gas/coal/nuclear.
