The world needs a new source of energy, an unspillable source.

  1. Isn’t it obvious why it wasn’t done to begin with? How would Obama convince anybody that we really need alternative energy if BP was able to plug this oil well immediately? Wouldn’t that say offshore drilling is super safe because we can cap any oil well at any depth with just a little heavy mud? Of course if this “Top Kill” works I hope the public blames Obama for not forcing BP to try this earlier. It seems like common sense to try it first!

  2. It goes along with the unpreparedness. This is the first time it has ever been done under water and a mile under water at that. I’m sure a lot more is involved than what the average person thinks is involved, and to mobilize such an effort that has not been done, I could believe it would take some time. So at this point I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt until the facts come out.

Of course BP is at fault but they will pay the price and are already paying the price and helping to do whatever they can in the critical time they can do it. Truth is failures happen all the time at all levels. These things are going to happen no matter how perfect we think our world is. Mother Earth and nature have proven time and time again that its forces far outweigh the forces of man. I’m just impressed that we can live in this day in age like we do and can tap into what the earth has to offer. Even while this drilling failed, many forget about the probably thousands more drills still drilling so that we have electricity in our homes and rides to get to work.

When BP finally completes the top kill and cements the well will the Obama administration or anyone else ask?

why it wasn’t done as soon as they got the under water equipment on the site? This procedure could have been used within the first week and was not WHY?

They should be asking why it wasn’t done immediately. They should be asking why that spill wasn’t capped within 24 hours. They should not be allowed to drill at such levels if they don’t have a fail proof contingency plan in place that will stop any massive leak in 24 hours.
