Try researching geothermal heating and cooling. Geothermal energy is not very accessible because of the very deep drilling involved. Heating and cooling by use of geothermal heat pumps is very economical. And it can be done anywhere.
George Bush developed a lot of new geothermal sites to tap into that clean, abundant energy. Every step of the way, he had to fight “environmentalists” who wanted to prevent development of geothermal areas.
We must make a decision. Do we want clean energy, so we can drastically reduce our dependence on carbon-based fuels? If so, we must make the decision to tap geothermal areas that are currently “parks”.
The greatest obstacle to accessing this abundant energy is that most of the prime geothermal sites are tourist attractions.
Geothermal is easily accessible where the earth has geothermal activity close to the surface. This would be in volcanic area or around geysers and hot springs. While most of these areas may be under government control if private land is in the area it may be technically possible to tap into this heat source. This is quite feasible in Iceland.
